Helping You Stay Active

We believe that physical activity and well-being are interconnected and that active living plays a key role in a healthy community. We encourage you to participate in the many different ways you can incorporate physical activity into your daily life.

It can be as easy as taking a daily walk with your dog, a hike with your friends and family, registering for one of our recreation programs, or taking advantage of the Fun Fit Pass and Play Packs offered by the Library.

For further information, please contact the Recreation Department at 902-396-1059.

Recreation Programs

Chair Exercise

This low impact class led by Sharon Lynch is a great way to incorporate physical activity into your day.

Modifications and seated options make it an accessible activity, and new members are always welcome!

Chair exercise class takes place on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Westville Town Hall Gym. No equipment is required. $2/session.

*** Please note: there is currently only availability in the 1:00pm class.

To register, call the Recreation Department at 902-396-1059.

Nordic Walking

Nordic walking is a total body version of walking that can be enjoyed both by non-athletes as a health-promoting physical activity, and by athletes as a sport.

The activity is performed with specially designed walking poles similar to ski poles. The Westville Recreation Department has sets of Nordic Walking Poles available to be signed out at the Town Hall.

If you want to try Nordic Walking, come by and borrow a pair from us!

Summer Day Camp

We offer day camps for children throughout July and August. Camps are open to children ages 5 to 12 years old.

Campers must bring their own lunch, snacks, water and sun protection, including a hat and sunscreen. Comfortable walking shoes/sneakers are necessary.

Drop off will be at the Gym at 8:30am and pick-up will be at 4:00 pm, except for trip days when locations and times vary according to the individual trip.

Please note that all camp programs are nut-free.

To register, call the Recreation Department at 902-396-1059.
